Within Jack Danger Canty’s model of Technical Coherence a UX domain is:

Jack Danger Canty 1

A UX domain is an encapsulation of a complex area such that there is a lot happening internal to that area, but very little on the surface.

As an example, the UX domain of “Onboarding” has an input of a non-signed-up user and an output of a signed-up user. Internal to that domain is a set of experiences and features with spiraling complexity, but the “API” is quite simple.

Alternatively, a UX domain is all of the user experiences you facilitate for a user while they are in the same role. A test for splitting a domain is: “Would the UX experience make more sense if it was services by one large team or two smaller teams?”
