Taiwan

Located off the South east coast of mainland china, Taiwan is self governed even though China claims Taiwan as its territory. Taiwan produces 11 percent of the world’s memory chips, it fabricates 37 percent of the world’s logic chips¹.

Potential for future conflict

Given China’s claim on Taiwan, the U.S. support, and the island’s criticality in the production of semiconductors, Taiwan remains a potential flashpoint. Some think a ramped-up dispute over isolated Pratas Island is one scenario¹.
