Afforestation / Reforestation

Wood afforestation has a problem at harvest. Much of the sequestered carbon is lost during harvest to litter, transport, waste1.

Bamboo afforestation is placed at 94 and 392 tonnes of carbon per hectare (tC/ha)2.

Land Use Tonnes Carbon per hectare
Natural Forest 126-699
Tree Planting 85-429
Bamboo 94-392
Grassland/pasture 70-327
