Whiteboards bias towards the drawer

Whiteboarding is often seen as the ubiquitous sword in the scabbard of every successful tech product / engineering team. The visualization tool that unlocks the latent creativity of product genius and programmer rockstars. A counterpoint to this shibboleth is that being the drawer on the board allows that individual to hijack the conversation. Additionally, ideas might be given more weight simply because they have been written down and memorialized. It’s important to be aware of this dynamic and read the team on whether it is a help or hindrance1.
