Positional leadership is leading a group merely by title or credential1.
This is a tenuous place to be. A leader must focus on building real influence beyond simply the title the hold. An organization that is geared around following because of title will be rife with politics, leaders will feel a desire to feel important. They will focus on outward signs of respect, deference and quantifiable pieces of position (e.g. headcount or budget).
