The modern minimalism movements draws its roots from SoHo artists re-purposing garment district lofts as creative space. In a sense, re-purposing the old spaces of garment labor, and placing an emphasis on creative spaces with airy interiors and natural light. It has been argued1 that farmhouse chic reuses, or at least re-imagines an agrarian aesthetic in a sanitized and pre-packaged way.
